Susan Comerford

Tulip Diptych, by Susan Comerford

Susan Comerford  (from Roseburg, OR)

Showing at the Justice of the Peace Building

177 NE 1st Street

I was born in, or near, Drain Oregon, and grew up in a remote sawmill camp owned by my father and his partner.  I’m sure this is where I grew to love nature and the landscape so much as we were in a beautiful setting of steep hills and forest.  There were wild flowers in abundance, ferns and moss, along with the quiet and starry nights of a place without electricity.

Art education began at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where I  moved when 20.  After coming back to Oregon I attended Umpqua Community College and the University of Oregon and finished with a Masters Degree in Fine Art.  Along the way I have taught painting, printmaking, and pursued my own art with diligence and perseverance.  I began showing my work in Portland Oregon in 1976 and still do.  I have been in many group and solo shows and am fortunate enough to be in a multitude of corporate and private collections.

Gord by Carol Grant Loomis

Carol Grant Loomis

Fiber - Gourds - Mixed Media

Showing at Yaquina Bay Hotel

160 North Main Street

Caroll Grant was born and raised on the central coast range of Oregon. Her playground consisted of swamps, streams, hills and forests. It was only natural that she should become a basket weaver. When she was in her teens, she lived in Northern California and learned to make twined baskets of willow roots and sticks from a Yurok basket weaver and later mastered coiling and beadwork.

She took drawing and water color classes from Bill Kucha, Joyce Gaffin and Bet Borgeson. Today she resides at her home of 30 years next to a small salmon spawning stream in between the Siletz and Yaquina rivers. Caroll has incorporated gourds into her work as a canvas for her paintings. Her studio is located behind her home under the canopy of a rich, lush forest.  Caroll has works in private collections all over the world and is a member of the Osage Nation. You can reach Caroll at her studio number 541.875.3792
